Tacloban City | 24-25 May – RAPID launched the RRI for 13 pilot barangays as the initial stage of the climate-smart community based disaster risk reduction and management component which will last for about a hundred days. It is the first stage for community disaster and climate change action planning. Full story here.
Rapid Results Initiatives (RRIs) are small-scale interventions by the BDRRMC and target groups. The RRIs will help jumpstart the mobilization of the community, create a “learning-by-doing” environment for achieving outcomes/objectives, and promote demand for technical assistance on DRM and CCA. Resilience and Preparedness toward Inclusive Development (RAPID) Program
The Climate Change Commission (CCC), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Australian Government, expanded its Project Climate Twin Phoenix to cover specific areas that were adversely affected by Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) in 2013. This component is the Resilience and Preparedness toward Inclusive Development (RAPID) Program.
RAPID Program is envisioned to strengthen the capacity of local government units (LGUs) and their coastline communities to manage risks from and adapt to the overall impacts of climate change toward resilient and sustainable development.
