Manila, Philippines, November 23, 2015 | With this year’s theme, “Enabling Local Climate Change Actions for Sustainable Future”, the 2015 Climate Change Consciousness Week: NGA-LGU Summit was attended by local chief executives and representatives from both PCTP (Pablo and Sendong) and RAPID (Yolanda) programs areas at the SM MOA Convention Center, Pasig City.
This year’s Summit addressed the mitigation and adaptation options, highlighting financing activities such as the People’s Survival Fund, GCF, CCET, CASS, and other local responses implemented through collective action and bottom-up approaches. It showcased pathways for integration from cross-sectorial perspective which were explored through examples from the Commission’s projects (Click here for the complete schedule of the NGA-LGU Summit).
The event also provided information among various stakeholders on the status of the Philippine preparations for the Paris negotiations, and enhanced their engagement in creating national climate change action plan. It facilitated updates on the progress, exchange of information, and sharing of good practices and experiences of the country’s moves toward a more climate-resilient country.
